I brainstormed and collected my inspiration. I developed my ideas as much as possible on “paper” via sketch before going to the computer. Thinking always shows through in logo design. I documented everything I produced. I had to brainstorm five (5) concepts for my chosen companies. At least one of the concepts had to be a typographic solution. I researched any necessary visual material for reference. I aligned discovery words with type treatments, fonts, shapes, and colors.
I started the process on the computer. I used sketching and exploratory work to narrow down the selections. I created three (3) versions for each company on the computer in black and white only (no grey). I evaluated my results and refined my sketches digitally for each company as many times as necessary to achieve an ideal solution. I could only do black and white solid shapes. No gradients or tints at this point.
Then I combined three marks into two.
